Who are Cliff Richard and The Shadows? To some of you it may sound strange, but there are still people in this world who have no idea who Cliff Richard, Hank B Marvin, Bruce Welch, Jet Harris, Tony Meehan, Brian Bennett, Brian Licorice Locking, John Rostill, Alan Jones etc are. Well this is not the website to find the complete answer to the question above, but I do hope that you will get an impression of how popular these guys were when they started in the late 50's and how popular they still are in the year 2002 . . . 44 years after it all began with the release of their first record called "Move It", which made it to number 2 in the British charts. "Move It" became the first European Rock 'n' Roll record that sounded American. Cliff became the British answer to Elvis Presley. Just a fact: Cliff Richard had number 1 hits in the 50's , 60's, 70's, 80's, 90' s with his most recent number 1 hit record in december 1999. In the year 2000 he decided to have a sabbattical year for the first time since he began his career in 1958. Another fact is that : Cliff and The Shadows have had more hit records than for example The Rolling Stones & The Beatles. |
Here' s just a little bit of information about myself: My name is Angélique von Sohsten. I am 24 years of age and I am living in The Netherlands. I became interested in the music of Cliff Richard & The Shadows in May 1989 after watching a Television Special dedicated to Cliff's 30th anniversary in showbizz. At the age of 11 I bought my first Cliff record (double LP) and at the age of 12 I attended my very first Cliff concert in Rotterdam. Beside this website I am also site manager of the Move It 1998 community website of the Dutch Cliff Richard & The Shadows fanclub "Move It". Untill this website is completely running and renewed I will link certain items on this website to the Move It website. |
